Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When choosing a treatment, it is helpful to know exactly what to expect. That is why I have gathered the most frequently asked questions clients ask me below.

This will give you a clear understanding of how I work, what acupuncture can do for you, and what a treatment looks like.

Can’t find your question? Feel free to get in touch, i’ll be happy to help you.

What can I expect during the first consultation?

During the first consultation, I take the time to carefully discuss your health concerns, lifestyle, and medical history. I look at patterns from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective (such as tongue and pulse diagnosis, as well as your symptoms) to gain a clear understanding of the underlying cause of your complaints. After this, you will receive your first treatment right away, so you can immediately experience what acupuncture can do for you.

What can I expect after a treatment?

After a treatment, you often feel calmer, lighter, or more relaxed. Sometimes you notice immediate relief from your symptoms, while in other cases the body continues to process and respond in the hours afterward. It is normal to feel a little more tired, or sometimes more energized, as this is part of the recovery process. Be sure to drink enough water and give your body some extra rest that day.

Is Acupuncture reimbursed?

Yes, acupuncture is largely reimbursed by many supplementary health insurance plans. You do not need a referral from your GP. Please check with your health insurer or view the reimbursement overview here.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

Most people experience acupuncture as very gentle and virtually painless. The needles are extremely fine, much thinner than those used for injections, so you usually feel only a small sensation as they are inserted. Soon after, many people notice feelings of warmth, a subtle flow of energy, gentle movement, or deep relaxation in the body. It is common to feel deeply calm during treatment, and many clients even drift into a light sleep.

How many treatments do i need?

This varies from person to person and depends on the nature of the complaint. Acute issues often improve within just a few sessions, while long-standing or more complex conditions usually require a series of treatments. During the first consultation, I create a personalised treatment plan based on your individual situation, so you know exactly what to expect.

Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?

No, you don’t need to bring anything. For your comfort, we do recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing so the body can be easily accessed during treatment. It is also best not to come on a completely empty stomach. Because acupuncture works with the body’s energy (Qi) and activates natural regulatory processes, having a light meal beforehand can help you feel more grounded and comfortable during and after the session. If this isn’t always possible, that’s absolutely fine, it simply helps support a more pleasant overall experience.
